Michael has over 30 years’ experience acting for the Boards and CEOs of some of the world’s most successful companies. With significant experience in international markets, Michael has strong commercial expertise in placing effective appointments across the oil & gas, mining & minerals, industrial and infrastructure sectors.
Michael is a founding director of the company and is responsible for the international development of Gerard Daniels. He was instrumental in establishing the company’s offices across the EMEA and the Americas and retains predominant responsibility over both regions.
A firm advocate of education and not-for-profit enterprises, Michael is an Adjunct Professor in the Business School at the University of Western Australia and is a Board Member of the Telethon Kids Institute.
He holds a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Western Australia.
Lloyd has more than 30 years’ experience in executive search and human resources consulting in key industry sectors in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and the United Kingdom.
He has become a trusted advisor, having developed many long term relationships with clients, and has proven expertise in recruiting Chairs, Non-Executive Directors, Chief Executive Officers and senior level direct reports. Lloyd also has a strong career background in corporate governance assignments involving structure, strategy and board composition.
Lloyd has also been heavily involved in building capacity of Not for Profits in the community, culture and health space as part of the firm’s commitment to developing the environment in which we work.
Lloyd holds a Bachelor of Arts (Distinction) from Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia; is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors; a Member of the Curtin Business School Advisory Council; and Immediate Past Chairman of the Western Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra.
Alison Gaines is a member of the leadership team of Gerard Daniels, since 2006, and leads the business in the region. Her practice area focuses on board and executive appointments and providing wider governance, performance, remuneration and organisational consulting to clients across all sectors and industries.
Alison has extensive non-executive director and director experience accrued over thirty years, in the not for profits, mutuals and public sectors, higher education and professional and management education.
Alison was previously Chief Executive Officer of The Australian Law Society following a distinguished career in the public service (responsible for whole of government strategic human resource policy, the Senior Executive Service, executive remuneration, CEO employment and government boards and committees).
Alison is a Governor of The College of Law Ltd Australasia, Chairman of the Murdoch University Foundation, Vice President of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (WA) and President of the Australian Institute of Management WA and Deputy Chair of the IDPN, a Global Club of INSEAD.
Alison holds an honorary doctorate; a Master of Arts (Public Policy) from Murdoch University; Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (hons) from the University of Western Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University. She holds a Certificate in Corporate Governance INSEAD; and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Director and the Australian Institute of Management.
Raj began his career as a marine engineer before gravitating towards executive search and talent advisory work. Prior to joining Gerard Daniels, for seven years, Raj co-founded and managed an executive search and HR consulting firm based in London.
Raj’s experience comes from working with large global corporations and privately held entrepreneurial start-up environments in the United Kingdom. He has also had stints with reputable executive search firms, focused on the global energy, natural resources and infrastructure sectors.
His focus has been on executive search and consulting for complex and sensitive leadership assignments across executive, technical, operational, commercial and functional disciplines.
Raj is a seasoned search professional with strong grasp of sectors he specialises in and has helped attract exceptional professionals to the organisations he works with.
Raj holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA from the ENPC Business School, Paris.
Darlene Sambell has been with Gerard Daniels since 2001 and leads their Corporate Services team, which includes human resources and payroll, finance and tax, technology and cybersecurity. Darlene has led the implementation of GDPR and other legislations. She provides corporate support to all four offices and the overseas company entities.
In 2018 she took on the additional role of Company Secretary.
Previously, Darlene was the Office Manager for the Spotless Group for 14 years.
Alex has over 10 years’ experience recruiting at the senior professional and executive level across a variety of industries in Australia and North America. He is a Chartered Accountant and commenced his career with KPMG in their Assurance & Advisory practice. Alex leads the specialist finance executive and technical roles and corporate executive roles for industrial, government trading enterprises, corporate clients. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce.
Cailin joined Gerard Daniels from an in-house HR team. She focuses on international executive search in the resources, industrial, healthcare and services sectors. She holds degrees in psychology and commerce (human resources and industrial relations).
Chris leads the Asia Pacific research team and undertakes executive and technical leadership research across all industries. He has nearly 20 years’ experience in the search and recruitment industry in Australia and Japan with a broad interest in health, sciences and research, arts and not-for-profits. He holds degrees in Microbiology and Biochemistry and Communications.
Daryna has over a decade of experience in executive search, concentrating on international mining and oil and gas executive and technical lead roles, as well as the industrial sector, including rail, automotive, construction, aerospace and defence. Daryna also contributes to various diversity initiatives and is a member of Women in Mining (UK). She is multilingual in Russian, Ukrainian, German and Polish. She holds a Bachelor of Law and MA in Banking and Finance.
Emma undertakes global research to support assignments across a range of disciplines including Commercial, Sales, Business Development, Marketing, Technical, Projects, Supply Chain, HSSE, HR, and Finance. She has worked in London and Sydney. She has worked in luxury products and holds a Foundation Degree in Interior Design.
Geoff has more than 30 years of executive search experience across the Asia Pacific market, including founding and successfully operating his own firm which offered both executive search and recruitment including a market presence in healthcare.
Geoff has completed numerous senior leadership roles with substantial functional expertise in general management, data and analytics, sales and marketing, operations, finance and customer management.
Geoff has worked as a trusted adviser across a broad range of clients including for listed, private and not-for-profit organisations.
Geoff holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia.
Holly works in executive and board recruitment and remuneration advisory, especially focused on resources, corporate, mutuals and cooperatives, education and regulated sectors. She has a background in public policy and worked at an influential think tank before joining Gerard Daniels in 2014. She holds a degree in Political Science and History.
Ivan joined Gerard Daniels in 2010 and has worked on various executive and technical leadership roles in our Asia Pacific and EMEA practices. He undertakes executive search for resources, industrials, agribusiness and food, family business, government trading enterprises and elite sports organisations. Ivan holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Management.
James has over 15 years’ global executive search and selection experience within the US, EMEA and Australian markets. He focuses on CFO, senior level Finance, Digital Transformation, Corporate Development, M&A appointments and leadership succession planning across a diverse range of sectors including financial services, natural resources, FMCG, real estate, healthcare and the public sector. He holds a Bachelor of Science.
James has over 13 years of experience in Human Resources and Executive Search, with a focus on the Energy and Natural Resources sector. He has successfully delivered mandates from C-suite to VP and Senior Manager level across private equity, E&P, oilfield services, renewable energy and EPC delivery. He has worked in the Asia Pacific, EMEA and Americas markets. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Strategic Management and Human Resources Management).
James has more than 12 years of international executive search experience in the energy, natural resources, infrastructure and financial services sectors. He has extensive experience of successfully executing Board, C-level and senior leadership assignments for globally listed entities, private companies and private equity backed businesses across Asia Pacific, EMEA and Americas markets.
James holds a Bachelor Business Studies (Hons) from the University of Plymouth.
Jennifer joined Gerard Daniels in 2003 and leads the health, research and allied health practice, not for profit/charities practice and public affairs/communications and investor relations practice. Jennifer was a journalist and ministerial adviser before joining Gerard Daniels. She holds a degree in politics and history.
Julia is a senior researcher with an international career in executive search working in Australia and the United Kingdom in executive search for nearly two decades. She focuses on international executive search in resources, industrials and corporate sectors. Julia has lived in the US, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia and brings a wide range of connections and insights to her role. She holds a degree in hotel management and advanced coaching and business development qualification.
Kathryn has over ten years’ global executive search and selection experience within EMEA, the US and APAC regions. She has successfully completed mandates across a diverse range of sectors including financial services, fintech, manufacturing and retail.
In addition she has significant experience within market mapping, strategy and consultancy searches across energy, transportation and the agri-business sectors within EMEA.
Kathryn’s functional expertise includes working across major financial conglomerates, PE backed businesses and privately owned start-ups advising on c-suite, senior level Finance, CFO, Corporate Development and Head of Desk and Country roles.
Kathryn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Bristol University, United Kingdom
Kristy joined Gerard Daniels in 2004 and is responsible for internal staff training, onboarding, CRM and IT management, website and social media development and various technology projects. She assisted in the implementation of GDPR in 2018 and has twice managed the migration to a new CRM. She provides training support to all four Gerard Daniels offices.
In 2008, Kristy was awarded the WA Office Professional of the Year from the Australian Institute of Office Professionals.
Paul joined Gerard Daniels in 2005 and is a lead partner in the mining practice, having worked on executive, operational and technical leadership roles for every type of miner globally. He works with many miners in Australia, Asia and Africa who are seeking international talent for project delivery.
A metallurgist by profession, Paul worked for a national engineering consultancy, Rio Tinto, North Limited and a global petrochemical company and has deep understanding of all aspects of the resources lifecycle. He holds a degree in science (metallurgy) and is an active volunteer director.
