- Outside of Mike’s professional success, he is an accomplished athlete, having completed the Hawaii Ironman in 1987 and a variety of more recent endurance paddleboard events, including: The Morrison (50km) – placing 1st, The Big Clarence (40km) – placing 3rd and a 24 hour non-stop charity event held in Canberra, setting an Australian record as part of a four man team for paddling over 200km.
- When Mike isn't paddleboarding, he keeps fit with golf, regular strength training and surfing – speaking just enough Indonesian and French to get by when holidaying in remote surfing locations.
