Having worked across executive search and human capital consulting for over 20 years Matthew brings considerable value to Gerard Daniels and its clients.
Very early in his career Matthew ran the Financial Services Practice for a global recruitment firm, managing diverse teams and a multi-million-pound PNL. He later served as Principal for the Financial Services section of a leading global executive search firm, and as Director for the Finance Officers Practice of a boutique London-based business.
Across these roles Matthew has delivered many high profile and strategic searches in finance and governance and successfully executed Director, Managing Director and C-suite mandates. He continues to advise clients on a wide range of human capital strategies including headcount optimisation and restructuring, diversity strategies, succession planning for C-suite leaders and market compensation analysis.
As new disruptors enter the financial services market and challenge traditional sector norms Matthew’s role has evolved to focus on developing and advising clients around this transformation, and deeply understanding the market’s changing needs and challenges. Professionally Matthew also has a keen interest in developing BAME and female leadership talent pools, and working with clients to create and nurture diverse business leaders.
Matthew has a passion for problem solving and cares deeply about his work. He enjoys engaging with and delivering value for a broad range of clients, developing deep and meaningful partnerships and playing a part in the prosperity of clients and candidates as they grow.
Clients value Matthew’s frank and honest approach and the unbiased advice and counsel that he is able to provide.
- Matthew once led the back office restructure for an EMEA boutique investment bank that resulted in a more streamlined and efficient governance platform, more robust and forward-looking leadership and a more tangible succession planning strategy and vision for the organisation.
- Delivering a highly confidential and complex gender mapping exercise for a prominent financial services client remains another career highlight for Matthew. This work led to the identification of a number of key themes relating to gender and diversity across the Financial Services market, as well as the desire to appoint two senior female leaders to the organisation’s EMEA leadership.
- In his spare time Matthew is learning to speak Italian.
